Sad that they are closing this location. It has a lot of memory for people like my parents. My parents have been shopping all of our furniture there since I was a little kid. Mom and Dad love it. At the very beginning, it was because the store is only 10 minutes away from home, and they can always find very nice furniture there for very good prices (saved a lot of money over the years and I'm sure that contributed to my Northwestern tuition); then after a while, the honesty and customer-centered service from the owner Larry and the employees went a long way, and my parents become two of their most loyal customers. Like many of other customers at their age, Mom and Dad don't know write reviews on line, so they asked me to do this. To be honest, I have postponed for a while because the craziness at work recently. Therefore I owe an apology to Mom and Dad. They wanted to let everyone know how much they appreciate Domicile and its owner Larry's hard work and contribution to "a truly beautiful world" (quote from Mom). This is emotional for me to write it, because I have witness how nice Larry and his employees are to every customer walked in that store and how hardworking they are --- they are the people I respect.

This place is awesome! I got great deal on a dark brown cool looking Italian sofa, cool stainless steel coffee table (heard it was starred in a movie!), and a cool dining set which was featured in another TV show. Totally unique and high style. The price couldn't be any lower. The sales guy Karim was really helpful and the furniture was delivered on time. All the staff I encounter at Domicile was very courteous and professional. I give it five stars!

I will only buy from this store. I have spent thousands of dollars on furniture in the last year, and 90% of it has come through Domicile. Larry, the owner is the best. I called raising heck because my order was so overdue. Turns out, it wasn't! (I had the date wrong.) But Larry was very understanding and helpful anyway. He called the vendor and worked with them to get me my furniture asap. It came within 48 hours and it's better than I ever expected. I worked from a national home magazine, so I have delt with dealer, vendors, manufacturers for years. The experience at Domicile, being able to interact with the owner directly - made it one of the best furniture buying experiences I've had! I even took my friend there to buy his dinning set and my nephew to buy his new sofa! Great quality - great owner - and Colleen in the office was so nice to work with. And on a side note, Paul and the delivery staff were top notch. Incredibly nice, on time and so accomodating of my tight schedule!

Unbelievable (in a good way). That's the only word I can think of--which is a big deal, because I'm a writer--to describe Domicile. My wife and I have shopped at Domicile for over 10 years now, starting when we first moved to Chicago from San Francisco. We had a store just around the corner from us in Lakeview (on Broadway, now closed), and now we live in the 'burbs, near both the Evanston (closing soon) and Lincolnwood stores.

Larry, the owner, puts so much heart into every aspect of Domicile: the quality of the furniture, the showroom, the service, and the unbelievable (there's that word again) prices. We used to shop at Crate & Barrel and Room & Board, but now we always go to Domicile first.

Two days ago we bought 6-7 items at the Evanston store, to take advantage of the great end-of-business prices on floor models (things were getting snapped up fast!). After coming home, we realized the sofa and two of the chairs we bought weren't quite right for the room we wanted to put them in. But the delivery was scheduled for the next day. I called Larry and told him we were having second thoughts. Without hesitating he said, "No problem. You can get a refund or store credit." We were thrilled, especially because the receipt/invoice make clear that all sales of floor models are final, etc., etc. Unbelievable service like that makes us confident about shopping at Domicile--we know we'll find what we need, and any issues we have will be taken care of in the best possible way.

Of course, service doesn't matter if the product is low-quality. We've loved every piece we've gotten from Domicile, from the $80 end table to the $2500 sectional that has lasted over a decade with minimal wear and tear (despite our kids' best efforts!). The Lincolnwood showroom is spectatcular, just like the service, selection and prices.
Look, I came up with another word for Domicile: spectacular!

Unbelievable/spectacular selection + quality + service + prices = Domicile!

Got my white Italian leather sectional delivered yesterday. My living room looks fabulous now! Cannot wait to invite my friends over for the house warming party! Thank you Domicile! Thank you Nadia --- she was very knowledgeable on furniture and interior design, and extremely patient while I couldn't decide which sofa to choose from for the whole afternoon (that happens when you got too much choices, isn't it?)
Great shopping experience! The store was very impressive --- it is even prettier than their photos on Google, filled with beautiful furniture. My first expression as I walked in was WOW. Seriously, I've never seen a furniture store as nice as this one before. The owner must've put a lot of effort. Fast delivery --- my sofa was delivered in two days, can you believe that? I never shop cloth or furniture on line, one reason is you lose the fun part of shopping; the other reason is waiting for the item to be shipped from who knows where it is (totally painful). So I always shop at local stores, and I feel good by doing this --- think about it, the local stores pay the taxes which support our own community, so I'm actually supporting our local community, and if more people doing this, I'm sure we will be the first out of recession! --- Pardon my long lecture, a professor's old habit. Back to Domicile's Furniture, about the quality and price, I did my research before I went to their store, literally had a book of sofas slips from other stores to compare with, the result: I got the best deal! To use a simple example --- it is like only paid $300 for a LV handbag in Nordstrom. How good feeling is that! Although it is kind of hidden behind Toughy, the store is very close to I-94's Toughy exit, and it was not hard to find with a little help from Google Map.

I am an interior designer and their furniture is almost in all of my projects, and I recommend this store to many of my clients. --- Why? I love their large selections, wide range, reasonable price, good quality, and excellent customer service. Not long ago I had a client who was moving in town from out of state, I looked at several furniture stores for a nice Italian Leather sectional and I found the ideal Gamma sofa on their showroom floor. The price was unbelievable low compare to the other stores. It was a short notice and they did the delivery the same night. I was so grateful of what they did, because the very next day the historical snow storm shut down the entire city, and my client wouldn't have anything to sit for a couple of days. So these are real nice people work there. AND their store is very pleasant to walk through --- I mean it is such a beautiful and unique furniture store!

I was all over looking for furniture. What I have found (since I have sold furniture in the past) is that a good majority is over priced and lack quality.
When I was coming out of my health club I noticed a sign that said HUGE WAREHOUSE of furniture, I was reluctant to visit because of my horrible experience with the past places similar. So I said to myself give it the old college try so when I entered the showroom I was pleasanlty surprised. Everything was very reasonable in contrast to a majority of the places I had visited. They were very busy as I needed the help so the owner Larry had approached me several times, finally he had introduced me to Nadia and said that she was a interior designer and she would be of great help.
I was ready to buy the set on the floor not knowing that I had a choice of fabric. I had to come back with a cushion to my recliner and she helped me pick our a fabric that would match. Larry was very cordial and professional. I have turned on a few of my friends and they were very happy with Domicle. I have not yet received my furniture but I hope it as good as it gets!

I am very happy with my experience with Domicile, and so do my friends who purchased furniture there. I've been their customer for many years because they are doing business just like in the old days --- with trust, honesty, and integrity . As one of many good examples, I bought three cherry wood book cases from them, I was quite happy because the exact same bookcase in Room&Board was priced much higher. Later that day, I got a phone call from Larry, he said when he review the orders, he found that someone moved the price tags on the 60" bookcase and 75" bookcase, the 60" book case I bought should be $75 less and they refunded the difference back to my credit card! What an honest guy! Great service, large selections, high quality, beautiful furniture, great price... Domicile never disappoint me.

I absolutely love shopping at Domicile, as I came back to this store with my friend Sandy to buy a sectional for her house. The store is always nice and clean, everything is artfully displayed. It is pleasant even just simply walking around in the showroom. Not mention it has so many selections, and they are high quality and stylish furniture with unbelievable reasonable price! And the sales person working there are all so friendly and knowledgeable ( some of them are certified interior designers) . We were like little kids in a candy store, touching things and trying out things --- after my last visit, they've got so many beautiful new furniture. We spent half day there, but Sandy got her dream sectional sofa, and she got a new dining set, new bedroom set, and I bought a new club chair and new art work and some accessories. Think we spent a fortune? Not at all! = ) Sandy said with that money she could only buy one sofa at some place. Domicile certainly offers the best deal in town in terms of high quality furniture and high class service!

Thanks to Domicile I have the sofa I always wanted! I know many will jump to write a review if they are super mad, but I felt I should write one because I am ecstatic!!! My husband and I have been looking for a couch for ages! literally!!! 2 years we fought over style, fabric vs. leather, size. It was man vs furniture! Alas we decided to start our search around the holidays so we went to the usual places: Crate&Barrel, Room&Board, WalterE Smithe, Dania, some local place called Roy's...we even considered Craigslist (and thank our lucky stars we did!!!) Because of the terrible reviews we read for Domicile we decided it was not worth even looking BUT...after finding a ton of amazing deals on craigslist (plus they have a flickr page-how awesome is that!?) we found a dining room table. During our visit to their Outlet in Evanston we were redirected to the biggest furniture showroom we could imagine! filled with so many unique items. The showroom is located in a not-so-busy industrial area (not sure why) but we found a sales person right away who was happy to help us. She took us around the whole showroom and explained exactly what to look for when buying a sofa. After going to furniture stores for years we learned more in 1 hour than we have in 2 years, and we made a decision right away! The funny part is we actually realized that we ended up with a sofa we saw at Roy's but because we didn't know how to "shop" for furniture we never knew that's what we wanted! What made our experience with Domicile actually amazing was the fact that we didn't even have to wait 3 months. They called 2 weeks later and said a shipment came in with a sofa exactly like the one we ordered. It was wonderful to know that someone took the time to follow up on a $700 order when they have sofas which cost $4000! Thanks Domicile...

I received outstanding service from Domicile Furniture and couldn't be happier! I knew exactly what style and size of a couch I wanted for my newly-constructed lower level. It needed to be big ... it needed to be sleek ... it needed to have a curved design ... it needed to be affordable. Normally, when you go in with preconceived notions of what you want, the only way to find it is to have it custom-made. But the staff (Chad, and others) put on their creative thinking caps and after considering the products of many manufacturers, came up with a couch brand and configuration that met all of my criteria. They did not have the exact unit on the floor, but told me it would feel similar to some other couches that I proceeded to sit upon. So, I took a leap of faith and ordered it, sight-unseen.

Later, I was told the (temporarily) discouraging news that the main piece to the couch had been discontinued. But Chad would not accept this answer. He immediately got on the phone with the manufacturer, tracked down one final piece that was still in the manufacturing plant, and had them reserve it for me. He also went out of his way to ensure that the fabric selections were to my liking and arranged for special fabric.

My couch recently was delivered. I love it! Its firmness is exactly the way the staff indicated it would be. It looks like couches that cost over twice as much as it did. And it fits my space perfectly.

I definitely will recommend Domicile to friends and family who are in the market for new furniture. In fact, I already have ...

The Salesmen told me when I walked in that this store was 80,000 Square Feet! I spent 3 hours looking at the vinettes that they have set up. They have everything from classic to contemporary. They even have a clearance center at this store! Everything is all under one roof, it was the best Saturday afternoon I have spent furniture shopping.

The salesmen do not bug you every 5 minutes either. I looked at fabric swatches that I liked and odered my sofa that day, I had been looking for 2 months at stores like Crate and Barrell and Room and Board. The furniture is American made, they even have high end furniture from Italy so I knew I was getting quality. The delivery man was very helpful too, he called to set up time and called before he arrived.

I am definitely coming back to get dinning room furniture, and telling everyone I know to go here. Their prices are cheaper and the quality is worth it.!

Puzzled by all of the possibilities I had in
redoing my dining area, I turned to Domicile
Furniture. I have shopped in the Evanston
and Lincolnwood locations of Domicile, and
have always been happy with the
choices and the prices there.
So off I went to Domicile Lincolnwood
where I found many suitable dining
tables and chairs.
Still a bit confused as to what would
go with what...I ran into Chad who was
very friendly and helpful and gave me
some honest opinions and ideas. I
had found some chairs that I loved, and
asked Chad to think about what tables
might work best with them. Returning
the next day, I consulted with Chad
again, and we worked together to come
up with a beautiful table that goes very
well with the chairs. Both table and chairs
were delivered the next day and friends
who have been by to see them are very
impressed. They wanted to know where I
had gotten them! So I want to say thank
you to Chad and Domicile for solving my
long search for the right combination !!

Wow! I have told friends about Domicile, as I have furnished my entire home with them. I was told by one of my friends that they had looked Domicile up on yelp and that there were a few poor reviews. I am shocked. I have made several purchases dating back to 2004 and have been nothing less than impressed! My parents have been doing business with Domicile since the early 80's when we moved near them. I don't know when they started operating their business, but that is a long time to stay in business if it is a shady outfit. I do admit the clearance center in Evanston is tough to navigate and that some of their sofas are expensive (there is also quite a wide range of prices). But, I also bought a solid cherry wood bedroom set for my wife and I for a steal because of a few minor nicks that I fixed myself. I just wanted to defend my local store so if others look at this site they may be swayed to give Domicile a fair shake. There are a few bad reviews on here but who posts the good ones? I thought maybe I should. I will be back to Domicile if I am in need of furniture in the future.

I just happened upon these reviews while I was googling Domicile to get their store hours... and I have to write this review because of the negative comments I saw.

I purchased several items (dining room table and chairs, desk, coffee table, couch and matching chair, bed, mattress and dresser ) back in 2005 when I moved back to the area. They were very helpful, yet there was no pressure sell at all. I went there in the morning, and they delivered most that afternoon! Only exception was the posturpedic mattress which was ordered, but that was delivered according to schedule. The delivery team was professional, and they had some work as I live in a 4th floor walk up apartment.

I am very impressed with the quality of the materials, and the construction. My father was a carpenter, so maybe I am biased toward beautiful woods and finishes which display the grains of the woods. Of course you can choose the wood and finish, but they had a lot of what I like (cherry with natural finish). I have needed to take the desk apart several times (big desk, narrow doorways) as I have remodeled the apartment, and it was easy to do. I have also noted that the drawer hardware is high quality -- even the couch is well made and sturdy, and with my 85 pound labrador puppy it has gotten some abuse!

So, if you want good quality furniture, no pretentious sales people, and are willing to walk around the store to put together your own combination of pieces... then check out Domicile. I am heading to their Lincolnwood showroom after I write this to find a book case and a side table to hold a printer -- I am confident that I will walk out of there with what I want, or else they will build it to suit my needs. If not, I will let you all know!
